Matter Forms X Fibrelab take on Textile waste
The Sashimono Stool:
The London Design Festival event also showcased a Matter Forms x FibreLab x Fabreco product innovation, created with Reconsidered. Fabreco, an innovative composite material made from recycled textile fibres and bio-resin, was applied to furniture for the first time to create The Sashimono Stool, which launched at Silo. This Japanese-inspired stool transforms waste textiles collected from local businesses in London and shredded in our East London by mixing the fibres with a bio-resin. The Sashimono Stool is made from a high percentage of recycled textiles and bound together with only a small amount of bio-resin.

The Sashimono Stool is inspired by traditional Japanese joinery techniques that assemble furniture without nails. This piece reimagines waste textiles, through the lens of designer Mooka Srisurayotin, founder of Matter Forms. The recycled fibres are mixed with bio-resin, pressed and CNC cut into shape by Fabreco.
